I remain puzzled why the #USBC cable I use to connect my PC to my Kobo will charge it whether the end of the cable plugged into the ereader is label-up or -down, but will only transfer books when label-down.

One drawback of every device using USB-C to charge is not all chargers are equal. My proposal: decide on three minimum wattage standards and have colour coded rings on all plugs and sockets so you can easily tell what needs high/low wattage
#USBC

Dropped my laptop from the couch and of course it landed on the charger and bent the connector.

The computer is OK, but the charger connector is broken. I have a low power USB-C charger that works sometimes, so I have to charge the computer at night or leave it on the table when I am charging it. Ordered a new one.

Ahahaha. The usb c port on my macbook air is starting to fail - only works when plugged in at a certain angle....

It's about 2.5 years since I've had this machine. Way past its programmed obsolescence I guess.

Now, I can live without a port or two. But the machine only HAS two ports. For EVERYTHING. What an idiotic design decision. Apple sticking to its founding principles: form over function! And dragging the entire sheeple industry with it...

I mean, I'd not have any issues with a "shitty" #Netbook if it's prized acceptable.

  • And not €220+ for a Laptop with an #Atom #Z8350 & 2GB RAM and a 32GB eMMC that was €199 at lauch 10 years ago and €149 5 years ago.

Cuz then I might be better off buying a used #ThinkPad with #USBc, remove the dead battery and stap a Powerbank to it.

Tho I'd rather start the #NUCbook project instead or buy a @frameworkcomputer / #Framework12 instead...

I wish instead of coalescing around #USBC as the standard we're all stuck with for a long time to come, we had held out for a different connector design that doesn't wear out regularly, thereby requiring wasteful, frequent cable replacements. It's both environmentally hostile and consumer hostile.
Did we end up with USB-C because inventing a compact connector that doesn't wear out at either end is too hard, or because vendors wanted to sell more cables? 🤔

China entwickelt eigene HDMI-Alternative GPMI

@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill @tomiahonen @fuchsiii obviously, that would've been a good standard for everyone, given that almost all non-#Gaming #Apps these days are #WebApps and at that point we'd not have 100+ MB #bloatware that essentially just loads a #Website and can't even cache shit!

Personally I believe the @europarl_en & @EUCommission could do that and establish as well as enforce an #EC #norm, just as they did with #USBc, #CCS2 and #GDPR!

#Android needs to be better as in being more than just the "lesser evil" compared to iOS!
