My three laws of buttons:

1. If you display a button on the screen, I should be able to use it immediately. I should not have to wait for it to finish painting/fading in/whatever.

2. Buttons, once displayed, must not move of their own accord.

3. Clear visible feedback must be shown when I activate a button.

I highly recomment the documentary "Citizen Jane: Battle for the City" (2016).

Anyone involved in any sort of #UrbanPlanning should watch it & learn from Jane Jacobs' activism. She spoke out against urban planning & slum clearances that ignored the needs of people. #UX people might even get inspired by her.

You can dig deeper in her book "The Death and Life of Great American Cities" - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Deat. It is still in active use as I understood from the documentary.

She went up against Robert Moses, who sounds like a Trump-like character who wanted to build sterile landscapes designed for cars, not people. Rather soulless, in fact. Jacobs & others stopped him, but unfortunately, many around the world adopted his ideas. which suddenly explains all those blocks of soulless housing you see from other big cities, Those blocks that have often been dynamited decades after being built because they failed. #cinemastodon #documentary #filmstriben

I don't like how Mastodon forces the "Butterfly" icon for a profile metadata entry with the name "Bluesky" and then forcibly renders that metadata at the bottom of the profile page, ignoring the entered order. The resulting profile page looks ugly when the profile data also has non-links or just web links. 😠

‎I fixed this issue by pasting the "empty character" at the end of metadata name "Bluesky". The fix probably breaks agents that look for the name "Bluesky" and I don't really care. 🤷‍♂️

OK so, I think I got confused on the #fedora website. Turns out I downloaded #Fedora42 Plasma KDE. Which has worked out well for the user.

Although, a bit fussy in the user interface. I would have preferred Gnome.

But on review, it looks like I was confused by the word "Workstation". I ignored that option because I didn't want some RedHat official thing for offices.

Welcome social coder. Let's focus on social experience design in order to cocreate socio-cultural solutions that scale from individual needs to our inter-personal relationships in order to leave 'societal imprint'.

#SX is a natural extension to #DX and #UX that goes beyond technical systems and socio-technical platforms. SX unites sociosphere and technosphere to add missing social layers of the open social stack to our fediverse.

We are a commons. We are people. We are in control. We evolve. ✊
