Been a Serum VST owner for some years so used the free upgrade to version 2.

Crikey, even simple sounds crush my CPU. Methinks I'll keep using version 1 for a while yet.

It is very impressive though, lovely interface that sticks to what the original did best.

From one of the Ampwall folks:

> If anyone has an old version of the Arturia Collection, they’re running a promo where you can upgrade to the latest version cheaper!
> There’s a gray panel “V Collection X Offer” near the top with a button that’ll let you see your price.

Their CS-80 is literally my first stop whenever I want to do synth-y stuff. I've bought a few specific softsynths from them, but this offer lets me get everything else for $149. 👀

Ignoring the FOMO hysteria regarding Serum 2 by realising I have more synths (and literally thousands of presets for each) than I can handle already, where the most noteworthy ones (Vital, Surge XT and Pigments, but also a handful more) each can do more things than I understand to program in any case.

On top of that I obviously also have the Syntorial courses stuff that I should chip through. When I know those things perhaps Serum 2 makes sense for me. There. I just saved €189.

A weakness of the SFZ sampler format is that for normal humans, it is difficult to write the code required to do more than basic key mapping. Most SFZ files don’t include midi CC & modulation capabilities, because these are defined in the code

Solution: Use a synth or sampler plugin that doesn’t rely on SFZ for these things:

* TX16Wx
* TAL-Sampler
* Altitude
* Bliss
* Serum 2
* Falcon
* ….etc
