The Big Box CEOs of the US want to extract *wealth* from you, not just a reasonable profit, and that requires scale. It represents all that's wrong with American culture and the economy.
And is it a good idea to be 10 miles from the nearest grocery store in a disaster or emergency? Or when gas becomes $15 a gallon? No.
Resilience means duplication - lots of it. Stores in every neighborhood.

What can the world’s most walkable cities teach other places?
"Paris, for example, already ranks well: it takes most Parisians just eight minutes, on average, to reach key amenities on foot, and 93% of them live in 15-minute neighbourhoods. But the authors developed an algorithm to determine how the city’s current amenities could be moved in order to further improve its walkability "
Washingtonians who walk and roll, please add your names to this petition as "PRO" for HB 1518 that presumes liability whenever a motorist strikes a pedestrian or cyclist!
This bill is very important to me and the more we get these numbers up the better chances we will have during the upcoming hearing.

The intersection of 10th and Monroe in Atlanta is being redone and will be way better for bikes and peds. However, they installed this screen/kiosk and it completely blocks the view of the road for pedestrians waiting to cross. Is this a big safety issue or am I over-reacting? A high school student on a bicycle was killed by a driver at this intersection a few years ago. #walkability #urbanism #accessibility #Atlanta #Beltline

I wish I didn't have to walk on the streets with the traffic, but the sidewalks are slippery as fuck and skidding/slipping/bracing undoes all my physio and cripples me up for weeks. #walking #Walkability
