Thinking about Luthen on Andor, he goes on about how he sacrificed everything but I think he likes being the martyr. He says that the world needs heroes. I'd say he sees himself as one of them, although I don't think he'd admit it. He's doing what he does as much for himself as everyone else. I don't think that's true of all the rebels.
