@Da_Gut /me does not have enough focus to read it all
@Da_Gut@dice.camp Huh, I attributed the 'all or nothing' thing to autism before
@Da_Gut
My sense of time is precise... In that I sense it is made up and unimportant and hence I disregard it completely.
@Da_Gut reminds me of that time friends got mega mad at me for daring asserting I have sensory processing issues so I refuse to go outside into "just a little rain"
I've had a few real-world situations where the hyperfocus has been a blessing.
What it isn't is predictable. If I could reliably harness it, I could rule the world - figuratively speaking.
And yeah, not worth the associated baggage.
@tbortels Yeah, its pretty routinely useful to me (and pretty routinely detrimental too).
.
And agreed, its NOT worth the associated baggage.
@Da_Gut not everyone has hyperfixations though...
@Da_Gut big agree on "not a superpower". I understand the impulse some people have to turn something stigmatized into something positive, but I don't think ADHD is misclassified when it's called a disorder. I have probably 70-80% of the issues in the image, and no, sometimes getting things done while hyperfocused and allegedly being creative do not make up for them.
@mllsc I got my formal diagnosis at 50. I was untreated before then and the amount of decimation that it has caused to my life is massive so my case is very simple. Fuck ADHD.
