Hey #minipainting Mastodon peeps!
Any tips on painting minis for a person who's bad at it, doesn't like to do it but still wants a table free from grey plastic? ... Asking for a friend

@bno buy a range of cheap make up brushes. Buy a few rattle cans with colour primer, two dropper bottles of paint of a lighter tone for each primer can, a brown wash (agrax earthshade or similar) and a few neutral tones like brown, mid grey and black, and skin colour.

Prime the models. Watch a video or 3 about dry brushing, then dry brush the lighter tones on. Pick out leather in brown, some details in grey, skin with skin, hit that that shit with brown wash.

Quick results in hours

@erikcats if I didn't have to make the models for Frostgrave suitable for going on different teams I think I would just go weird with it. Give them a black prime, a spray of color from a weird angle and then a white zenithal... Maybe a wash and a detail or two and call it a day

@bno yeah that's why I thought you'd be best served with colour primer. Different war bands, teams, gangs, they have to be recognizable at a glance or you will lose a lot of functionality in the game. I did four blood bowl colleges of dungeon bowl with gradients in inks through an airbrush and it looks colorful but it was super simple and fast to do

@erikcats Sounds awesome :) Do you have pics of those?

@bno yes i do and after sending i thought i should have stuck some in😆 am cycling right now will get back with pictures later

@erikcats Daaaaaaamn! Those look sick as hell. Very cool :)

@bno Thank you! ... and it all was low effort.

However, you need to have an airbrush and some airbrush skills😬

@erikcats I bought a cheapo airbrush on Amazon to try it out on my terrain building projects so I will definitely give this a try. Looks amazing - Could be a cool way to paint Tyranid units

@bno inks are the way, i have to add!
