11. Weirdest Game You've Played
#GammaWorld 7th edition. I really like 4e and Gamma World but I really didn't like this version.
Other contended for this prompt were Toon and Clay-O-Rama. #Toon is like playing a Looney Tunes episode. Clay-O-Rama was a game included in Dragon magazine. #RPGaDay #RPGaDay2023

Gamma World is one of those games I forever wanted to play, but basically never got a chance (well, aside from one brief and abysmal session).
You've also hit on my two semi-favorite editions.
4E - This, for me, contains just the right combination of seriousness and nonsense. And the right Cold War-esque apocalypse vibe.

7E - Gamma World edition based on D&D 4E (which i didn't like). But simpler and more elegant. I really liked character creation and skills. Altogether a nice, small package.
What I didn't like was having characters swap out powers regularly, and changing the entire cosmology to explain why this happened. Also not a fan of RPGs having an obligatory set of cards required (just put the info in a table!).

@PTR_K The card mechanic was not good. Especially since you had to hope the product failed because you didn't want other games adding that mechanic.
I did like D&D 4E. I think a 4E like Gamma World game could be great. Alas what we got was not.
