The unpaid toll text scammers need to be more diligent about their craft. I just got a text from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation informing me that I have unpaid tolls that I need to address ASAP. Wisconsin doesn't have toll roads.
@Tim_Eagon That may be a similar strategy to spelling errors and suchlike in emails: they're after the people who don't spot the mistakes.
@devilsjunkshop I'm sure it's foreign nationals unfamiliar with the various laws just making shit up based on the phone numbers.
@Tim_Eagon all the ones I get are from a state I haven't lived or driven in for about 10 years. Also the number appears to be coming from China
@breadwizard most of mine come from gmail addresses (an immediate tip off since they don't use .gov ones). I haven't bothered to look up the country codes in those that contained phone numbers, but I read elsewhere that the Philippines is a popular one.
We constantly get ones saying our Amazon order of an iPhone needs addressing due to a payment error. In Canada, Amazon doesn't sell iPhones.
@Tim_Eagon #tollscamalert I got one too. In California, and I am home bound. I just replied that I was reporting the scam and never heard from them again. There are so many people with bent morals. Who and what produces them?
@Tim_Eagon Hahaha I got one of those today.
