I've been playing since 1980, and at no time have I ever run across a gnome that was wearing a tall, pointy red hat.

@ruckerworks The traditional pointed red hat is gnome formal wear, rarely seen outside of certain ceremonial occasions. Modern gnomes favor flat caps as daily wear.

@overthehill "Orc in a necktie" has an interesting ring to it.

@ruckerworks That gets into Orcish business wear, which is too complicated a topic for this format. The necktie specifically started appearing on Orc office warriors during the savage 2nd and 3rd Trade Wars. Those were particularly barbaric affairs, fought with blade, fire, tariff, and lawsuit. Modern Orcs have largely abandoned the necktie in favor of casual wear better suited for their mobile fighting styles. It is still seen in formal settings, such as weddings & assassinations.
