Easter afternoon we rolled the full #CentralPark loop and checked out the new asphalt. Maybe they're ahead of schedule — it looks like there's just the east side straightaway from 81st to 90th still to be done (and it needs it).

Cat Hill has been one reason we've avoid #InlineSkating the loop for years, but it was suhweet. Now we have no excuses!

We'd complain about the pedestrians strolling in the middle of the road, but belatedly we remembered, that's an April Easter tradition.

Grateful for meeting lovely Daniela for the ballet photography at Central Park New York during the YAGP finals. I'm highly impressed by her elegance, grace and lines. A lot of fun shooting with such a great dancer.

On this day in 1967, more than 10,000 people showed up for a "be-in" in NYC's Central Park.

"It represents a cultural moment in our history. Central Park became an epicenter of the counterculture in New York, where different people from all walks of life could gather."

“Balcony Bridge, Winter” — A winter scene at Balcony Bridge in Central Park, Manhattan.

I have photographed and walked across Balcony Bridge in Central Park frequently. It is near the edge of “The Lake” in a popular area of the park, and in warm weather it is common to see lots of people pausing on the bridge to enjoy the view and take pictures. But it had a very different feeling on this cold and snowy winter day…continues: gdanmitchell.com/2025/03/23/ba

Yesterday while on the upper east side, right behind the MET in Central Park. I watched a NYPD cruiser berate a small group of musicians playing jazz because they had a small speaker. What really irked me about it was that the officers didn’t get out of their cruiser and have a conversation. The officer driving used his PA speaker from the cruiser, the irony! Then to further the spectacle of how we’ve lost the plot here, he’s driving on a path littered with NYC pedestrians of all walks of life on a spring NYC day in a goddamn cruiser. Policing in this country needs a serious overhaul with federal guidelines. I no longer believe it’s salvageable in any capacity.

edit: this is still so visceral an image to me of how disconnected that organization is. As a black man in America there are many reasons for me to tell my son to stay away from police. Yesterday he got to see a simple interaction and he’s not even a decade old. A young child thinks they could have handled the situation better. What are we doing as a society?!
