During the parade in #Moscow on May 9th, #Russia will celebrate a slightly different victory than #Europe - it will celebrate victory in the #Great_Patriotic_War This is an important distinction, so I thought I'd explain this further.

The #Great_Patriotic_War (#GPW) began on 22nd June 1941 and ended on 9th May 1945.
These marches are sanctioned by #Russian authorities and used to promote #Russian narratives.
*The #Great_Patriotic_War is the #Russian version of #WWII that started in June of 1941 when #Hitler's army attacked the #USSR and ended on May 9, 1945. The myth of the "#Great_Patriotic_War" is very strong in #Russia and is one of the pillars of its today's ideology
