A 3rd Century AD, schoolboy named Thonis, studying away from home, wrote this letter to his dad: ‘Look, this is my 5th letter to you and you've only written to me once, not even a word about your welfare, nor come to see me’. Papyrus 1575, from Egypt 🇪🇬 now housed at the British Library.

The building in the picture is Casa Campanini, an Art Nouveau building in Milan, Italy 🇮🇹

It was designed by architect Alfredo Campanini and built between 1903-1906. It is located at Via Bellini 11 in Milan. It is known for its floral decorations, elegant balconies, and two caryatids at the entrance, created by sculptor Michele Vedani. The wrought iron gates were designed by Campanini and created by Alessandro Mazzucotelli.

Iron dagger from Alaca Höyük (Türkiye) 🇹🇷

The gold-handled dagger was excavated from a grave at Alaca Höyük that belonged to the Hattian culture. It is dated to the Early Bronze Age (2400-2300 BC) but may even date back to 2500 BC. In any case the dagger was made at least 1300 years before the iron age properly took off around 1200 BC. It also precedes King Tut's iron dagger by at least 1000 years.

Scene from a satirical papyrus - animals imitating human activities :

This scene comes from a document dating to 20th Dynasty (1186-1069 BC) and was possibly found from Deir el-Medina, Thebes, Egypt. It is part of an unique collection of artistic works satirizing society during reigns of last Ramesside kings. The animals are depicted in acting against their natural instincts - lion does not attack the gazelle but plays a board game, probably 'senet' with her.

Hidden away in the porch of the church of St Magnus the Martyr on Lower Thames Street, next to London Bridge, is a timber beam which is believed to date from the city’s Roman era and which once formed part of the city’s wharves.

Found (according to a plaque upon the wood) in 1931 under Fish Street Hill, the wood dates from around 75 AD when Romans made first attempt to create wharves along the riverbanks of Thames.

Dragon Head Mountain, located in South Sinai, Egypt 🇪🇬, a striking natural formation that resembles a colossal dragon's head emerging from the rugged landscape.

Its most intriguing feature is the 'eye'—a deep cave that often flickers with a mysterious red glow, which, upon closer inspection, is revealed to be the light of a campfire inside. This eerie yet captivating sight has inspired legends and adds a mystical allure to the already breathtaking desert surroundings.
