Das Erfahrungssystem in #Cypher / #Numenera

So wie es im Buch beschrieben wird, ist es mir zu viel metagaming. Also quasi:

"Hey, ich habe beschlossen, die Story muss mal mehr Fahrt aufnehmen. Deshalb fällt Dein SC jetzt in ein Loch, Spieler 1. Hier hast Du einen Erfahrungspunkt."
"Okay, ich reiße noch den SC von Spielerin 2 mit, gib der bitte auch einen XP."

😬

Running a King for a Day campaign in Cypher at the moment and whale, this makes for a great game.

So far the players have multiple threads weaved in to the past six sessions. 'Wizard's Omen' is what drove them here, but 'The Missing' and 'Blood Expansion' threads are constantly popping up. I haven't even begun most other plotlines, though there has been a lot of foreshadowing. 1/2

Tonight is my second session of my King for a Day campaign. I'm running it in Cypher to get the system out of the way of the role play. The PC'S enter Compton, looking for Lothian. They will find his tower abandoned and the guards less than helpful. I'll hint at auctions and the fact people are a little 'off'. Must also start another thread/mission for them. Skye perhaps?

We're running a Small Business Saturday sale over at DTRPG. For this weekend, the Unseelie Saga is on sale (softbound and PDF). This trio of adventures is written for Monte Cook Games' player-facing, narrative-focused Cypher system.

Turn your face to the winter wind, and step into your story.

I'm starting up three different ttfpg campaigns and it's interesting how many similarities there are, but also many differences. And having started quite a few campaigns in the past makes me a little better at grasping those important but often forgotten elements of a session zero, like player expectations and kickstarting role play through bonding of the PC's.

Sulpher is the little subset of Cypher (Neo4j's query language) that I'm working on.

I added nore examples of queries that can be expressed in Sulpher:

Here are other graph features that can be accessed via the REST api without need of Sulpher (tSome of these endpoints translate your REST request to Sulpher under the hood)

In the Misc section there's a bit more interesting code example on how to use these graph things from your own Python application, or from wherever you can hit a RESTful http api. It implements the basics to access the graph data of a group of bloggers, with blogs, posts, tags, and comments.

Hope somebody finds it useful!

I'm expanding Sulpher (the little subset of Neo4j's Cypher I came up with) to be able to build more interesting graph queries.

Here's where it's at now:

What's next:

  1. Variable-length path expressions
  2. Advanced Relationship Handling (direction, multiple types)
  3. More comprehensive Property-Based Filtering
  4. Advanced Aggregation Functions and Clauses (WITH, ORDER BY)
  5. Parameterisation

I'm working on rserv 0.3.8

github.com/ha1tch/rserv/blob/m

Since 0.3.x rserv has incorporated certain graph-like features that allow you to query data from a property graph perspective.

Any document stored in rserv for any given entity can now be treated as a node from the graph-like perspective.

In order to perform graph queries, I added Sulpher, which is a funny name for a reduced subset of Cypher (the Neo4j query language).

Now I'm more happy with the general design (and keeping it RESTful! unlike GraphQL!) I think I will be ready to make the first public release soon.
