Air quoting is where someone sticks two (or four) fingers down in the air to visibly represent English-type double quotes during speech. It clearly isn't fully accessible, so should be deprecated for that if no other reason.
But what do #French or #German speakers, or others, do here? Is there an air quote style representing «...» (splayed fingers horizontally?) or „...” (two fingers up two down?) which I have been insulated from all these years? Is it just as annoying?
