TikToker explains reason why #Lululemon got its name - YouTube

youtube.com/watch?v=3G-v-jAUKn

As a person named Lorraine… I have thoughts on this

Koreans cannot pronounce L either… It drove me crazy as a kid being called Rori or Rorraine…

To name your company b/c you think it’s hilarious to see people struggle saying the name is… sociopathic, mean & cruel

Plus LuluLemon makes trash products & nobody should be wearing #microfiber #spandex #fossilFuel #plasticIsTheNewCoal products anyways. It feels suffocating & also retains odors… super gross

@gerrymcgovern imho it’s the rise of #polyester #microfiber #plastic #spandex

Even that 3% elastane woven in w/silk, cotton, wool etc is harmful & it kills your clothes making them unwearable

If we stopped using single use plastic in the form of drink cups, soda/liquid/drink bottles, food packaging, shampoo & product packaging, AND stopped buying #fastFashion #shein #lululemon & the like, it would go far in helping this giant mess we’ve created as these things don’t degrade for 200-400 years #plasticIsTheNewCoal #fossilFuel #COP28

@strypey #microfiber

cons:

1. no bacteria resistence so clothes get stinky fast, thus frequent washing needed

2. microplastics leech into the water with every wash sending microplastics to city sewer systems which don’t typically filter microplastics so they go into rivers. (Perhaps non-issue for septic tanks)

pros:

3. needs no tumble drying; air-dries in an hour; huge+ in the US where all tumble dryers are vented

4? do the dyes of plastics leech out? Plastic colors seem to be baked in

Better yet, wear clothes made of shorn #wool, #hemp, #bamboo, #flax, or #OrganicCotton.

How do you tackle #microplastics? Start with your washing machine.
Simple filters could help remove #microfiber pollution from your #laundry. But experts say a broader portfolio of solutions is needed to address the problem.

"As environmental challenges go, microfiber pollution has come from practically out of nowhere. It was only a decade or so ago that scientists first suspected our #clothing, increasingly made of #synthetic materials like #polyester and #nylon, might be major contributors to the global #plastic problem.

"Today a growing body of science suggests the tiny strands that slough off #clothes are everywhere and in everything. By one estimate, they account for as much as one-third of all microplastics released to the ocean. They’ve been found on #MountEverest and in the #MarianaTrench, along with tap #water, #plankton, shrimp guts, and our poo."

#PHENOMENAL listen
I rarely agree 100% with anything, but there were no flaws here💛💗everyone should listen to it b/c even if you know, you’ll still learn something #Reagan 🤷🏻‍♀️

I WISH they would come in the night & rip out my #gasStove !
Now do #microfiber #spandex #polyester #plasticIsTheNewCoal :)

#fossilFuel is marketing #elastane in clothing to make up for declining #revenue stream
