Oh let me join in on #rpgaday! Here are my four first days:
- First RPG bought this year: the High Voltage bundle on itch, including Glitter Hearts
- Most recently played: Koriko
- Most often played: Avatar Legends
- RPG with great art: Koriko (yes this one is gonna return more often)
RPG with great writing: is it cheating if I say Lilancholy? It's somewhere in between a novel and a game, and the writing made me *feel* things.
RPG that is easy to use: hm, ease of use depends a lot on the situation. I found Cantrip one of the easiest games I ever played since it requires no GM is compact enough to easily read at the table with no prep. If you like slice of life and witchcraft schools, then I wholly recommend giving it a try!
An rpg with good form: "good form" could mean a lot of things here but I really appreciate the simplicity and clarity of Sam Dunnewold's Space Fam.
An accessory I appreciate: big maps tailored to the game, in particular the ones by Free League.
Accessory I'd like to see: honestly not sure here, perhaps a set of cards for generating and fleshing out interesting npcs? Though it probably exists already.
RPG you'd like to see on TV: Coriolis comes to mind immediately, it has such great worldbuilding and opportunities for stories both small and big. I imagine something in the style of The Expanse or Battlestar Galactica.
Game with great support for one-shots: I recently had the pleasure of playing in a couple of Mörk Borg one-shots and it did the job really well. No frills, just brutal and (sometimes hilariously) dark action.
RPG with great campaign support: I'm going all in on Avatar Legends here. It has a great chapter on creating seasons and story arcs centered around the PCs.
Evocative environments: Wildsea comes to mind here for having a very unique and provocative setting, though I haven't had the chance to play it yet.
Compelling characters: Yazeba's B&B, the characters are the whole point of the game (and it's a great game)!
RPG with great character gear: this is a bit older by now but I quite like how gear works in OVA. Basically you just assign some positive and negative modifiers (the same ones that also describe your character) and that's it! As long as you use the item, these modifiers apply to your character. It's really simple and elegant.
Quick to learn: Lasers & Feelings. It's just one page, how much quicker do you want it?
