Despite having an office of hundreds of attorneys, Ken Paxton is frequently opting for private lawyers — many to whom he has personal or political ties — to argue on behalf of Texas.

One attorney cost taxpayers more than $24,000 for a day’s work.

click.actionnetwork.orgBirthright citizenship must be protected nationwide. Demand your Attorney General take action now. Donald Trump has launched a full-blown constitutional crisis, and the Supreme Court has now made it worse. In a 6-3 decision, the Court didn't say Trump's executive order to end birthright citizenship is legal, but it did strip federal judges of the power to block it nationwide while the case works its way through the courts. That means Trump's executive order will stay on hold thanks to the lower court injunctions in the 22 states that sued to block it, but it will go into effect in the other 28 states unless they also sue in the next 30 days. This is an emergency. Trump's order would strip citizenship from babies born on U.S. soil whose parents are undocumented or on temporary visas. It guts the 14th Amendment and tramples over 125 years of settled law. The 14th Amendment is clear: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States… are citizens of the United States.” But Trump’s executive order ignores the Constitution and this ruling could create a patchwork of citizenship standards across the country. That means chaos for families, hospitals, and state agencies. Parents could leave a maternity ward with a baby who is a citizen in Colorado but not in Missouri. A child could lose access to health care, schooling, and legal protections, all based on what side of a state line they were born on. Let’s be blunt about Trump’s endgame: This administration wants a legal loophole to pursue even more mass deportations. A permanent class of Americans without rights. A wedge to divide states, families, and the country itself. White supremacists have dreamed of ending birthright citizenship for decades. Now, backed by an ideological Supreme Court and emboldened by extremist right-wing attorneys, Trump’s doing everything he can to make it happen. We must do everything we can to stop them. If your state hasn't yet sued to stop this outrage, your attorney general needs to act. And if you're in one of the states that already has, we need to encourage your AG to recruit other states to join fast. Click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send a message demanding your attorney general take action to protect birthright citizenship for everyone in America now.

Day 23 🚫🙈🙉🙊

“Blocking the #GamblingAdReforms is the fourth known example of Albanese’s willingness to #overrule senior ministers such as #EnvironmentMinister Tanya Plibersek, #AttorneyGeneral Mark Dreyfus and assistant minister Andrew Leigh when they were tackling #controversial and #sensitive #policies.

The #PrimeMinister can always use the authority of his position to make the final call on all matters of policy. This masthead has already revealed that #Albanese has come over the top of Plibersek on #EnvironmentalProtection laws, Dreyfus on mandatory jail terms for hate crimes and antisemitism, and Leigh on sex and gender census questions.”

I’m going to be re-elected. 🙈🙉🙊
