Cronkite, Rather, Jennings, and Brokaw didn't have her range, though Brokaw did The Today Show. Diane Sawyer ran the table but didn't create and executive produce an iconic, Emmy-winning talk show. Tom Snyder had range but was never a national icon. The closest analogue I can think of is Oprah, but she isn't on Walters' level as a hard-news journalist. #journalism #history
