Okay, #DaveTheDiver is pretty cool! Just finished chapter 2 and so far it introduces new elements at the right pace to keep me in the flow zone, and not overwhelmed or bored. Wondering whether it will keep this pace in the late game.

Not a fan of their FOMO practices around expiring DLCs, so I would not recommend it to a friend.

Dave the Diver has another new DLC called "In the Jungle". The last DLC Godzilla was free of charge. The developer of DtD has gained a lot of love for offering a lot of free updates and DLCs, like the Dredge and Godzilla DLCs. The original game itself was great and fun. All the free and good DLCs are just making this game even more incredible. #DavetheDiver #gaming #Godzilla

I still don't like the graphics of #DaveTheDiver, it's just not my style - BUT... god is it a really good #game. This gameplay loop of semi-therapeutic/semi-stressful scavenging for resources, followed by something short and sweet that clearly puts your "progress" at the forefront for you to relish that we're seeing more and more of in games really gotta be studied.

This has always been the case for
#HarvestMoon like #games such as #StardewValley (tho, in a much slower, stretched out pace), and as far as games I've played it's clearly present in #CultOfTheLamb and now Dave the Diver. It's somewhat present in #MinecraftLegends too but I'd say the effect is a lot more dilute (cos it's too repetitive and seemingly has less progression). Need more fast paced yet chill games like this in my life.

Sakurajima Social (桜島SNS)Mika (@irfan)I absolutely dislike the pixel art graphics of #DaveTheDiver and #Moonlighter, it's just my least favourite type of (pixel art) graphics in a game, honestly, it looks so bad to me - yet, I feel like I've to buy them lol. The former, bcos of the non-stop overwhelmingly positive reviews, and the latter bcos Wood (from #BeatEmUps/#NontendoPodcast) really liked it and the game's awfully cheap.

Tonight in #DaveTheDiver:

- morning: bought a special trap to capture bluefin tuna for tonight's party
- no tuna spawned anywhere on the whole map, trap disappeared upon return to boat
- afternoon: dove without buying another trap
- naturally, a school of tuna spawned immediately
- took them all out, laboriously, with rifle and katana 🫠

While I can barely move, I am finally poking at the #DaveTheDiver demo on my Switch. It’s cute.

Wondering if I should pick it up on Steam, Nintendo’s achievements support is always lackluster and despite this being pixel art, apparently the devs had to make a bunch of compromises for it to run ok on here?

OTOH I’ve enjoyed playing Balatro on couches/beds/tables, and Dave seems like a similar pick up n go game? (Except for all the “oops time for a 20min sidequest” stuff I see complaints about.)
