I'm not wild about the "Year of" trope, but I think we can go ahead and call this the Year of Agentic AI. I've rarely seen one topic so thoroughly absorb the entire industry's attention.

If you work in the #iam space, my advice would be to look wider than just the technical aspects. Saml, oauth etc are all great, but no good if you don’t get the business context.

Understand joiner, mover and leaver (#JML process) and how it impacts the business - the controls needed and how it can be addressed with a decent strategy.

Also accept it won’t work as you expect in reality.

I’ve very much been a ‘Active Directory is here to stay’ person.

However, recently, I’m talking to more and more businesses who can see a world without the traditional authentication and management capabilities from AD.

This is mostly driven by the push to SaaS applications and internet based management tools such as Intune and JAMF.

As most orgs have a license and are using EntraID, they already have a decent suite of tools to not only improve their IAM security, but introduce new and exciting capabilities such as passwordless.

So I’m interested in how many of you are considering the move away from AD?
