Took a couple times for me, had to be in the mood - but it's some great instrumental rock/metal, light, airy bits, ambient, psych, and such. Post-metal? I dunno, man. Try it in your ear holes. Even though multi-instrumentalist Mike Oldfield may have come closest to realising his full vision with the release of 'Tubular Bells 2003', a re-recording of the original three decades later, it still remains astonishing that a 19-year-old Mike Oldfield composed and recorded (playing almost all the instruments himself) this captivating debut album at the time. Featuring only two tracks, each approximately 25 minutes long, it is truly a work of art in the truest sense when you listen to its soundscapes and musical flow. I sometimes wonder if 'Tubular Bells' would have garnered the same attention had it not been for the film 'The Exorcist', which used its opening theme in the soundtrack. Either way, I am glad this album (and its sequels) exists.
