#BikeNite A1: Posting from rural north end of #WaterlooRegion in Ontario.

I go to the city, #Kitchener once a week, 25km (15mi) or so. Biking takes just over an hour to get there, more like 90 minutes to come back (uphill, tired). The bus/LRT takes just over an hour either direction. I've never tried walking. Driving is about 25 minutes.

I find a good estimate for travel time is: walking = 3x bike or transit; biking = transit; bike or transit = 3x driving.

Well, since the CPC candidate who’s challenging the LPC incumbent in my riding is Dr Matt effing Strauss — fired by Queen’s University med school, anti-vax, COVID better than Happy Meal, founding member of the Great Barrington Declaration brigade…the idea of him being the federal minister of health, or even the health critic in opposition, is truly frightening. ATM, our riding is polling as Liberal *leaning*. WTF? This choice should not be difficult. 🤔

☝️yay! I have floated this balloon a few times, and finally got traction.
We've got a bonafide Signal group for anybody in the vaguely Guelph-ish area!

This is region-specific not mastondon-specific, btw. So if you know anyone not on fedi that would still be interested, DM me for a link to share. Open to anyone interested in building local community and connections - very #spoonie friendly, btw.

Ok! I'd like to gather folks for a Signal group for #Guelph and area - just a casual chat, share, community build, network kinda group.
Super low key, but a place for folks to connect and share, both online and off.
Chat fav restaurants.
Find folks to walk with.
Share some household stuff you don't need.
Connect with others on a project.
Whatever you need. Let's start building meatspace relationships.

Are you concerned about stopping the industrial park development surrounding the Huron Natural Area in Kitchener? The proposed Industrial Business Park subdivision would contain 10 industrial blocks adjacent to the Huron Natural Area Trail, connecting to Strasburg Road (1700 Strasburg Rd. The loss of habitat, increased noise pollution, and environmental degradation pose serious risks to the delicate balance of life in and around the area.
