Ausschnitt aus meiner bescheidenen Küche, Hochformat, im unteren Drittel ein ziemlich dickes, 60 cm langes Board, darauf stehen links eine Flasche Grappa und rechts daneben ein sitzender schwarzer Hahn mit weißem Kopf und rotem Kamm, gefertigt aus Blech. Um seinen Hals hängt ein Jute-Säckchen mit Tafelkreide. Auf seinem schwarzen Körper steht mit weißer Kreide handschriftlich der Text "Alles wird gut". Darüber ein großer Bilderrahmen mit großem weißen Passepartout und einem quadratischen Schwarzweiß-Foto. Am rechten Bildrand ist noch ein Stück vom pastellgrünen Hochschrank zu sehen.

I'm quite good at mornings.

I seem to survive them. My track record is solid.

Of course, all it takes to ruin a streak of surviving is one instance of not surviving. There was that one morning 13 years ago, a close call, as they say. I haven't driven a car since then, even though the insurance company gave me a new one.

Back to my point: I am quite good at mornings.

The third perspective is from the inner courtyard of the estate. The sunny side of the property with the living rooms appears cosy and refined, but not over the top. A pleasant farewell to this fine place in southwest England. Today it's back home via Exeter to Paddington Station in London.
