But even in resistance, I do question.
I do explore.
I do seek understanding.
And I grieve what’s been lost, in me, in us, by a world that still doesn’t see that as valuable.

Today in Labor History July 19, 2012: The People's Protection Units (YPG) captured the city of Kobanî without resistance, starting the Rojava conflict in Northeast Syria. In 2014, The Kobani Canton declared autonomy from Syria. Supporters claim they have implemented a form of libertarian socialism, influenced by American anarchist Murray Bookchin, with decentralization, gender equality and local governance through direct democracy; created worker cooperatives and govern the through local councils, each with one male and one female co-president. The councils have gender quotas requiring at least 40% female participation. They have banned child marriages and honor killings. They are attempting to replace punitive justice with a system of restorative justice. And women play a prominent role on the battlefield, as well as within the political system. Yet private property remains a part of their system, which is inconsistent with Bookchinite anarchism. And according to Andrea Glioti, remnants of the PKK’s Stalinist past remain in Rojava. He cites the ubiquitous portraits of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, often accompanied by the slogan “There’s no life without a leader.”
Schade, eigentlich. Ist nämlich wirklich eine gute Sache.
1 #Anwältin + 1 #Richter + 1 Thema.
10 Minuten ohne Skript und ohne #Schwurbel.
#TOA? Was`n das? Festival?

And yes, I understand that it is a delicate topic and that people deserve second chances.
This is why we need #RestorativeJustice instead of a patriarchal judicial system.
If you're curious about the way restorative justice works then this two header (from a victim's mother & her son's killer) is a really interesting example of what restorative justice can (and cannot) do....
Its both tragic but also life affirming in the sense that it demonstrates that humans talking & communicating even in the most awful of circumstances can achieve some lasting benefit for those in pain & offer a way forward.

6.7: Restorative Justice & Reconciliation With Rev Nora Jacob
Join us for a conversation with Rev. Nora Jacob on a better way to dispense justice than to subject offenders to a strictly brutal prison experience. A way that, by recognizing that hurt people hurt people, aims to empower, not just victims, but also offenders, to heal. This isn’t just showing mercy to incarcerated people, it significantly lowers the chances that they’ll end up back in prison after their release. That's a win for us all.
@elan @Raccoon I personally believe in restorative justice as in "one works towards undoing the harm caused"...
Seems like a fair and reasonable way to handle #MAGA|ts and #Billionaires...
