Attention all poultry keepers, fowl fanciers, bird herders, and chicken ticklers. Are you tired of hiding bodies? Do you baulk at the thought of concealing crimes beneath yet another patio or raised garden bed? Warn your visitors and save their lives. It's okay, chickens can't read. Yet.

We have a mystery to solve. One of our ducks has been laying in a secret nest somewhere so we bought a fake, ceramic egg and placed it in a nest to encourage her to lay there. It was a nest made by our goose so a bit oversized for a duck but it was right next to an abandoned duck nest so Now the ceramic egg has gone missing...

Today I will be mostly taking down poultry runs. Time for a move to another pen for the birds. This keeps them healthy and reduces worms and other parasites. #Chickens #Poultry #SmallHolding
So if anyone sees this who can help the question is whether the roof of the stable is ok under PDR in addition to the 12msq on the ground (curtilage)? #ScotsLaw #Farming #SmallHolding #Planning #ScotGov
In other news, the geese are filling their crops with grit from the molehills. Contrary to many farmers’ beliefs this does the geese (and their eggs) no harm. They have healthy digestive systems to deal with any naturally occurring soil bacteria and the grit helps them break down their diet of grass and grains. #Permaculture #SmallHolding #Geese
In for a warm-up and coffee. A small thread going through my head while I was working. What do you do when you're avoiding computer and all unnecessary electrical use because the batteries are flat and the weather is dark grey and raining and the #toDo list is intimidating? You get your morning aerobic activity sorting the run-off on the land with an enxada that's a cross between a pick-axe and a garden spade, that's about as effective as a smaller diesel digger and puts pansy suburban garden tools to shame. I should take a photo. /2 #offgrid #smallholding #homestead #lowCarbon
Chilly #chickens in the #smallholding today. Some of them stayed in their house all day yesterday… still no #eggs. #permaculture #NaturalSeasons
@RagnaJa You are indeed lucky to be a part of this. Starting a food forest is a great idea. Good luck with it, please keep updating your progress.
@laurenheywood This is a fabulous social planning experiment. Giving everyone 800 square metres of land for their own use.
I imagine if we did this here the supermarkets would block it in the courts for restraint of trade or some other nonsense.

@shonin I love reading this thread so much. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your homesteading lives on here.
I love your use of mulch and composting in your pathways for spreading on your beds in winter. #GrowYourOwn #Homesteading #Smallholding #ClimateAction #HomeGrown #Microfarm #AWayToLive

https://theferret.scot/claim-jail-time-unregistered-chickens-half-true/
the article says yes the law will allow the govt to put you in jail for 6 months for not registering if you own a duck/chicken /turkey even if its only one ,but the govt assures the reporters they only plan on giving us a stern talking to ,,,
What concerns me about the registration is if you register ,you have to update it annually ,saying who you gave /sold birds to and who you got them from ,so you become an informer
