Remember when DVD players were the bomb? You could even play video games on them... kinda... #TombRaider #DVD #Thursday #VideoGames #Gaming
Tomb Raider for the Amiga.
[BSzili] has released a proof of concept Tomb Raider for the Amiga called OpenLara. Although don't get too excited for a finished product any time soon. "This took me a few days. No sound, no full game, no warranty. I put it out there as a call to action: if anyone would be interested in helping out with the rasterizer let me know."
It's amazing how taking sceenshots is fun again now that I can SEE the game.
Some shots from the first story from Chronicles. They yassified Pierre and Larson and they're perfectly shippable now.
I finished Tomb Raider 4 today!
I will be honest, I don't remember the last few levels from my old playthroughs, and they're a mixed bag. It doesn't get as tedious as some of the older games, though.
They patched the game, now there's a brightness slider and it's MUCH better than before. It's a shame the game was shipped in such a poor condition, but hey... it seems okay now.
On to Tomb Raider Chronicles!

Lara’s braving subzero temps and shady shipping operations aboard the RX Explorer Which classic cold-level is this from—and what danger lurks beneath the ice?

Can you crack this frosty throwback?
Polygon Lara, but open source. This is a game engine which looks rather interesting and you might want to take a look :)
I found a pretty funny bug in Tomb Raider 3 Remastered. Lara drowns at the top of the waterfall, and then her corpse screams as she goes over the falls.
1996 noch unvorstellbar gewesen, 2025 Realität geworden - Lara Croft in Tomb Raider als Techdemo für den Commodore Amiga erschienen.
Having fun with game design today. I'm still watching the videos of the Tomb Raider level designer. "all this is gonna do is it's going to be confusing for the player, now look I'm the player and I've gone up here and it lead to confusion and I made that level." Love it.
Also, flicking through my screenshots of Mirror's Edge, I love how you can very clearly see how they use colors. The red, white and yellow is iconic but they also do a lot with blue shades.
Interesting find: Andy Sandham, who was a level designer in the original Tomb Raider series, plays his own levels. He is not happy. :D This is a great follow-up to a video I watched somewhen where bad level design was explained with Tomb Raider as an example. Andy's video titles sound a bit clickbaity but it's actually him playing his levels, dry self-ironic commentary and some game design explanations. Apparently there's 3 videos so far. https://www.youtube.com/@theunrealtakeaway7219/videos

New article!
See how games deal with language deciphering through the lens of #archaeolinguistics — from Indy to Lara Croft to Nathan Drake.
Giving AOD another chance. If anything it gives me an excuse for some virtual photography. The Photo Mode is pretty basic, but we have programs like Krita that can fix that.
First new episode release over on Peertube tonight! Today we're back in Tomb Raider II exploring the Wreck of the Maria Doria!

Did a bit of Peertube load testing yesterday by importing my Tomb Raider I Remastered series! It held up pretty well.
