In my latest #Zephyr video, I demonstrate how to connect OpenOCD to GDB and perform step-through debugging. It takes a little bit of configuring, but the toolchain is worth it for #embedded #programming.

Reading the #Remeha #CAN bus (Elga Ace All-in-One) using an #ESP32 with a SN65HVD230 CAN transceiver.
Since all ESP32s have a CAN controller on board, it only requires a tranceiver for the actual physical connection to the bus, so the required hardware is minimal.
Now all I have to do is decode the data...

I've been trying to edit this library by @tobyjaffey so it can be used to toot a picture with an #ESP32 Cam.
But after several hours of figuring out how to write the right http requests to upload and post an image, I have to admit that this challenge is out of my league.

My first WiFi based OBD-2 car diagnostic tool - WiCAN PRO. It is based on ESP32-S3 platform and runs open source firmware.
As usual, testing on simulator first
A very belated writeup.

I knew there was some level of canbus on a car, just never thought of tapping into it to make instrumentation or plot params.
It's a long video, some fits and starts as he troubleshoots hardware and then isolates data. First five minutes and then jump to 33 and then 45 minute marks if you're in a hurry.

#JournalEverything head scratch time. S2-MINI #ESP32 isn't reading the state of the bypass or reed switches, nor the alarm loop. I've checked continuity and voltages.
#JournalEverything Back working on the bike shed alarm. I've disconnected the old #D1-mini board from the shed panel, and brought the guts back to my desk. Confirmed that the S2-mini board does in fact fit, and powers up h #yay! Now I need to get this one paired with the CYD off the internal panel and check I've got the right IO ports defined (they are different from the D1) and that everything works properly. I mean, it worked on the breadboard but everyone says that... #Arduino #ESP32 #DIY #ESPNOW

I got curious how much power my MicroPython Sensornode was using and it sips power. Just under 100 mA peak.
