#Thai #MarriageEqualityAct takes effect on 23 January.

The Act amends the Civil and Commercial Code, replacing “#husband” and “#wife” with “#spouse” and “#man” and “#woman” with “#person” for #genderneutral #marriage #registrations. All laws on “husbands” and “wives” will apply to all legally-married spouses.

#Toilets again.  Someone said something about responsible parenting the other day which has been rotating in my head.  And makes me wonder:

If #genderNeutral public toilets were more available might some #men be more willing to take their young daughters out in public so they’re not faced with the choice of which genderised toilet to take them into or leave them alone outside?

(I’m not sure how this works for women/sons either, but the complaint was about men.)

Asking for a certain project ...

Does anyone have experience with #genderneutral #genderinclusive translations in free/libre software projects? Or other software for the matter?

I am a German speaker (but the problem exists at least for French, too). Recently, I saw a software with inclusive language (e.g. "Mitarbeiter*innen), and it made me happy.

I would like to promote this, but I would like to share some success stories or otherwise read some conclusions about the impact first.

Just got home from the second job interview. I’m exhausted.

They did a small case study with me which I passed brilliantly. The person from Human Resources couldn’t hold back with praise and said I did well on all bases.
I felt confident and asked them how they handle the third gender, which they are obliged to mention by German law.

They said they’re open for it and I asked to drop the formal address (Frau. bzw. Herr) and they were a bit surprised on how to address me. I said simply say “Guten Tag Vorname Nachname” and they said that feels not formal enough and I said they should give it a bit of time.

I offered that we learn together. I asked just to drop it in formal communication like letters and the contract. And that the gendered third person singular pronoun is fine for now. At least in German.

I am in good spirits that it is indeed no problem but I’m exhausted. And a bit proud. I sincerely hope I didn’t blew it.

#Thailand’s Senate overwhelmingly approves a bill to legalize #SameSexMarriage

June 18, 202412:45 PM ET

By The Associated Press

"Thailand's Senate voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to approve a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage, clearing the last legislative hurdle for the country to become the first in Southeast Asia to enact such a law.

"Thailand has a reputation for acceptance and inclusivity but has struggled for decades to pass a marriage equality law. Thai society largely holds conservative values, and members of the #LGBTQ+ community say they face discrimination in everyday life.

"The government and state agencies are also historically conservative, and advocates for gender equality have had a hard time pushing lawmakers and civil servants to accept change.

"Thailand will become the third place in Asia, after Taiwan and Nepal, to allow same-sex marriage. The marriage equality bill, which grants full legal, financial and medical rights for marriage partners of any gender, sailed through the House of Representatives right before the previous parliamentary session concluded in April with the approval of 400 of the 415 members who were present.

"It passed its final reading in the Senate on Tuesday with the approval of 130 of the 152 members in attendance, with 4 voting against it and 18 abstaining.

"The bill now needs the pro forma endorsement of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, followed by its publication in the Government Gazette, which will set a date within 120 days when it becomes effective.

"The timing of the Senate's vote on Tuesday, the first day of the current parliamentary session, suggests the urgency in getting the bill passed. The legislation will amend the country's Civil and Commercial Code to replace gender-specific words such as 'men and women' with #genderneutral words such as 'individual.'

"But it was not approved without a hitch. One member of the Senate, retired army Gen. Worapong Sa-nganet, argued that the gender-specific terms should still be included in the law along with the gender-neutral terms. He said excluding them would be a severe 'subversion of the institution of family' in Thailand.

"After the vote, Plaifah Kyoka Shodladd, an 18-year-old who identifies as #nonbinary took the floor and thanked everyone who supported the legislation, calling it a 'force of hope' that will help Thailand become more accepting of #diversity."

Neutroix is a gender that feels completely neutral as a result of being intersex. It is an intergender (a gender affected by or connected to being intersex). It is the intergender form of neutrois, which is a neutral gender whose name references the idea of a third gender (trois is French for three).

The flag and term were created by tumblr user leptrois in 2018:

The flag design takes the neutrois flag (white, green, black) and adds purple and yellow stripes to reflect it being intersex/intergender.

Gerne boost.
