I was not alone in the field this morning. A #RoeDeer made it quite clear he'd like me to go away.
I could see his breath as he stood his ground and barked.

Today I learned two lessons:
1. I don't need to go very far to see beautiful wild animals;
2. I'd be the worst hunter in the world. As soon as I spotted them, I went: "Oooh!!!", which spooked them a little. Luckily, I still managed to get a few shots;

I've just finished reading the 'Deer Man' by Geoffroy Delorme which is about his 7 years living with Roe deer in the Normandy forest - a must read for those interested in nature.
His book highlights how human impact affects the Roe deer and other wildlife and is a very moving and remarkable read about his time in the forest with some amazing individuals, that happen to be nonhuman.

Beautiful estate full of history & wildlife. I was lucky to get inside the #Pineapple. Nr Airth. Take a walk round estate to Dunmore House & Dunmore Tower (Elphinstone), listen for #nuthatches & #roedeer. Views surrounding estate stunning. Looked after by NTS SCOTLAND
