If someone wanted to play a mech RPG and was choosing between Lancer and Beam Saber, what would be the pros/cons of each system?
Have only played Lancer of those two.
Pros
Detailed mech building
No economy, if you have the blueprints you can just print new parts.
No mech damage tracking between missions
Very detailed tactical combat, but flows well
Cons
Very detailed square-by-square tactical combat
Sparse rules out of the mech
Much for the GM to do in combat, which is most of the game
@tissek This makes me think Lancer would be more fun to play than run.
Lancer is a great example of modal play.
In mech, crunchy tactical combat.
Out of mech, loosey goosey anime style drama.
I haven't seen Beam Saber. lancer was fun to play.
