Alright, I debugged this issue with "regex" parsing in ed.BASIC, so here's the public repo for the project: https://github.com/aartaka/ed.bas

So yeah, I have an ed re-implementation made in #BASIC. It's not a compliant #ed (1) implementation, because the "regex" are basically literals + wildcards. But it's already better than original BASIC environments' editors, I guess. So I consider this BASIC experiment a success. Looking for new projects to try BASIC on!

(I'm still worried that BASIC is stuck with MBASIC compatibility, and MBASIC is neither standardized nor ergonomic. But oh well.)

Okay, I've gotten back to #BASIC, and this time I dug deeper. Seems like there are means of abstractions after all. There are one-liner functions (DEF FN) and multi-line subroutines (GO SUB & RETURN.) So I can actually structure my programs without #GOTO-s! Maybe I'll implement #ed in BASIC after all...

Nice to see reports like this relating to patient care written in relatively plain English that patients could understand and with an Easy Read summary too . Report doesn't paint a great portrait of the emergency departments in hospitals where I live. Would be interested in finding out how other countries address some of the problems we experience in delivering urgent and unscheduled care in health. Things like patient waits and flow in ED.

Whaaaaaaaaat, next release of #GNU #ed happens in a couple of days! Possibly prompted by my bug report again

I'm considering #BASIC as my next Turing tarpit to write #ed in. But I can't even seem to find good tutorials on it, let alone ones that aren't heavily implementation-dependent. What kind of subset can I use that will be portable across implementations? No idea. It sucks not having a standard for a language.

* Technically, there are two standards, Full BASIC and SmallBASIC, but both were abandoned in favor of Microsoft BASIC. And now I can't even find a reference for original MS BASIC!
