Virginia Health Officials Investigating Additional Potential Measles Exposure in Northern Virginia

Virginia Department of Health is Working to Identify People Who Are at Risk

RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) was notified of two additional confirmed cases of measles that traveled through Northern Virginia Wednesday, March 5 and Friday, March 14. Both people are Maryland residents who recently traveled together internationally. he Maryland Department of Health and Howard County health officials announced today a positive case of measles in a Howard County resident who recently traveled internationally. This case is not associated with the measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico. Out of an abundance of caution, health officials are coordinating an effort to identify people who might have been exposed, including contacting potentially exposed passengers on specific flights.

Anyone who visited the following locations during any of the following hours may have been exposed:

Washington Dulles International Airport: Terminal A, on transportation to the main terminal and in the baggage claim area

Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Department
​March 7th, 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm

#IAD FYI: There is still a table outside the exit from the international arrivals building where you can provide an anonymous covid sample (they only ask for departing airport and the start of your trip back to the States) for variant-tracking purposes and to screen for other respiratory diseases. Wet day for a #run, but I finished the #5k! First one in quite a while. Got to run on the #IAD runway, pretty neat experience.

Good #IAD news if you have a Cap One Venture X credit card: Capital One's lounge at Dulles, located just after the TSA Pre checkpoint in the main terminal, opens Sept. 7, per a press release that just landed in my inbox.

Good morning from #IAD, where the Capital One lounge right after the TSA Pre checkpoint looks like it could open this week (and should offer some terrific aircraft views from its windows in the base of the historic control tower). But I suppose the remaining punchlist items will take longer than that.

@jordinn @ai6yr They've since put #IAD on ground stop because of thunderstorms. Lots of airports on the Eastern seaboard are on ground stop right now.

#IAD FYI: Metro is running what seems to be an extremely prompt shuttle to Dulles from Rosslyn (with one stop at the McLean Metro) to get people around part of the Orange Line closed for rail replacement. I only waited three minutes between getting off a bus at Rosslyn and this coach rolling out: 36 minutes later, I exited at a shuttle stop at the back of the Dulles Metro station. And my bus had plenty of personal space, with only 6 people boarding at Rosslyn.
