The #Tucson botanic gardens is currently hosting a watercolor exhibit called Curious Allies that originated at the NY one. (https://www.nybg.org/event/wonderland-curious-nature/wonderland-curious-nature-programs/asba-curious-allies/). There was a lecture today on the topic of mutualism in nature, so in addition to seeing all the cool art, I learned about lots of neat lichen, fungus, and carnivorous plants. Maybe it will come near you! (https://asba-art.org/ExhibitionCuriousAllies)

Found a nice vitricolous lichen yesterday in New York. I'm assuming it's some sort of rock shield (Xanthoparmelia) but not sure which one. Per Harris (2004) there are 15 different species in the state. #lichen #glass #nature #fungi #algae #inaturalist https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/269613876

13 years of moss and lichen growth.
I hung this helmet up in 2012. It was the end of a transcontinental motorcycle trip during which one of my buddies died.
