New bowl from #arbutus.

When you drill into end grain with a sharp Forstner bit, you get some really interesting shavings.

This 30 caliber bolt action pen and pencil set is on it's way to the customer. they had ordered it for a relative who enjoys hunting.

Chrome pen and pencil kit with body turned out of red dyed box elder burl. pen and pencil are shaped like a bullet and have rifle like bolt action to extend and retract writing tip. they are in foam lined plastic case made to look like a rifle case.

This platter is a more conventional. It's a shallow concave plate. It's 30 cm across. The rim is a bit less than 4 mm thick. It's a piece of salvaged #GarryOak.

Yesterday I had an hour or so and decided to grab a piece og beech firewood and turn it into a spoon. I havent made spoons on the lathe before so it was very much an experiment. It turned out nice though.

I made a bowl. It has the look of a chalice and feels really old, I think because of the creviced nature of the wood. I was a bit apprehensive starting this, worried about the tools catching in the crevices but it was ok. #woodturning #maker #woodworking

Cereal bowl sized bowl in Ash. Kept the walls down to 2mm at the rim to about 4mm at the curve. Happy enough with that. The new screw chuck worked perfectly, way more stable than the worm drive bit in the chuck.

I have been staying away from workshop for past more than a year because I had been recovering from frozen shoulder. but finally cortisone shot seems to have done the trick. I was able to spend some time in front of my lathe and just to make sure I haven;t become rusty I turned this razor handle for safety razor.

Here is a new lidded bowl and a dish. Both are made from salvaged arbutus wood.

A small wooden bowl, cauldron shaped, with a lid. Overall it's as tall as it is wide. A cauldron is a round pot, wider than it is tall, with curved sides: it bulges in the middle. The wood is orange brown.

The dish is broad and shallow. The wood is orange brown but it has a lot of variation. There are a couple of cracks.

Made a present for my kid sister in the traditional Irish brother style.

You put jelly tots in it, and it tortures you by only letting you pick out one at a time with two fingers instead of grabbing a handful (if you try, the rim bites you).

On Monday, I got these ten bowls back from an exhibition. They are called "Reparation inom slöjden" (In English: Repair in Slojd (or Crafts

)). It's a piece all about repair and the right to repair. Most of these bowls have been repaired using a method that has been used historically here in Sweden and around the world by ordinary people. This demonstrates that repair is a skill everyone can learn and apply, even today.

This connection between historical repair practices and modern repair hobbies is evident in my own interest in repairing electronics. Just as people in the past used simple methods to fix everyday items, today we often only need a basic understanding and a search engine to repair many issues. The main challenge now is accessing spare parts. Previously, a lot of things were more mechanical and easier to repair in a personalized and fun way. By embracing the principles of repair from the past and driving companies to provide spare parts, we can make a big difference in this world. And that's really what this piece is all about.
