Clear nail polish might seem innocent, but it's quite destructive. If applied to some surfaces, it becomes impossible to remove without damaging them. Therefor it is vitally important that you keep clear nail polish away from plastic safety or lab goggles, clear plastic containers, and the lenses of web cams and most outdoor/security cameras.

Please share this message so other folks don't make this mistake.

The Living Birdhouse is a series of daily videos from a bird's nest inside a nesting box, starting from the moment it was created. You can follow at:

➡️ @gnatho

You can see all the videos so far at diode.zone/a/gnatho/videos and you can also look at videos from previous years' nests.

(Note that the nest videos are silent, there's no microphone in the nest.)

I have had various iterations of webcams on my house for Alberniweather for almost twenty years. These three are definitely going to be the nicest ones. I can hardly wait to get the three of them combined into one picture!

The West camera seems to be a little laggy. I noticed this last night when I was testing as well.

I might need to see if there are any other configuration issues but they should be identical.

TIL that a number of webcam-feeder combinations exist for #birds, and that many now include #AI to identify #bird species. So when birds come to feed -- even #hummingbirds -- the AI will analyze the image and give its best guess as to the bird's identity.

Fancy. Also expensive. And some require a subscription for the bird identification features. I'm not sure if the cost-benefit analysis tracks here.
